Abstract: Howard E. Orem was an admiral in the United States Navy and a member of the United States Naval Academy Class of 1922. The papers are largely the product of Vice Admiral Orem's service with Cruiser Divisions Six and Seven during World War II, his command of U.S.S. Houston (Light cruiser: CL-81), his tour as Commander Naval Forces, Germany, and his time as a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy.
