Abstract: William Adger Moffett was a Rear Admiral in the United States Navy, having served as first Chief of the Bureau of Aeronautics. The Moffett Collection consists of correspondence, diaries, news clippings, periodical articles and orders. In addition to such topics as the evolution of naval aviation, lighter-than-air technology, and the London Naval Conference, the Moffett Collection also contains documents pertaining to Moffett's time as a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy, his personal finances, and the crash of the Navy airship Akron, which resulted in his death.
