About this collection

Throughout the Second World War, the United States Navy issued various information bulletins to the officers of the Fleet in order to promulgate vital information on and analysis of recent wartime operations. Combined with action reports filed by commanding officers throughout the Fleet, these documents offer an indepth accounting of Naval actions in the Pacifc and Alaska, Naval support for the Allied invasions of Europe, and amphibious operations in both the European and Pacific theaters.

The Battle Reports and Analyses Collection is composed of primarily of two series of information bulletins entitled Battle Experience and Amphibious Operations, and is supplemented by battle reports filed by the commanding officers of individual task groups, task forces, and divisions.
