Technical Details and Accessibility
The Army-Navy Football Collection is composed of 445 images representing over one hundred years of Army-Navy football games, dating back to 1890. The images include game photographs, team portraits, program covers, game tickets, poems, songs, and yearbook photo montages.
The documents in the collection have been scanned using various equipment over a span of several years as JPEGs ranging in resolution from 72 ppi to 300 ppi. All new additions are scanned as high resolution TIFFs (600 ppi) using an Epson V700 Photo scanner utilizing Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 or Adobe Photoshop CS 4, and are subsequently converted to lower resolution JPEGs for delivery.
The Army-Navy Football collection was developed as a joint venture between the United States Naval Academy's Nimitz Library and the United States Military Academy Library. The collection was converted to its current platform under the auspices of the Nimitz Library Digital Initiatives Group.
